The Siebengebirge is situated in the Rhineland, at the banks of the Rhine River, Federal State of North Rhine Westphalia. The cities in the Siebengebirge are Königswinter and Bad Honnef.
All local trains stop here. If you come in car, the A3 motorway will take you right into our area, there is an exit “Siebengebirge”. The big cities most close are Bonn and Cologne (Köln) in the North and Coblenz and Mainz in the South. The national and international trains stop in Siegburg and Bonn. Attention: The train station in Siegburg is called “Siegburg/Bonn”, and that is what you see on an ICE train ticket. Please take a look at the small map, Siegburg and Bonn are at the same height more or less, but Siegburg is on the right side of the Rhine, Bonn on the left. A tram line, line 66, runs between Siegburg station and Bonn main station.
The most close airport is Cologne/Bonn (Köln/Bonn), but thanks to the ICE train, Frankfurt also is within reach.
The Seven Mountains and the Rhine belong together. From Königwinter and Bad Honnef, numerous small and large pleasure boats take you downstream to Bonn, Cologne, Dusseldorf and even across the border to Holland, or upstream through the famous Middle Rhine Valley to Linz, Koblenz, Mainz, Bingen and even further to the Rheingau. Maybe you are on a boat-trip on the Rhine and your ship docks at Unkel, Bad Honnef or Königswinter, and you feel like hiking through a beautiful scenery and look down on the Rhine – the Seven Mountains are right there.
Last not least, you can come hiking, maybe you have come for a tour along the Rheinsteig long-distance hiking trail. You start at Bonn, market place, you cross Kennedy bridge to the right bank, and then the Siebengebirge is one of your first stages.
