Stenzelberg |
|
|
Not much has remained of the Stenzelberg mountain. Already in the Middle Ages the Cistercian monks of Heisterbach gained stones there to build their enormous abbey church. For centuries the quarry continued, even after 1908, when the quarries on the Petersberg were closed. In 1922 the Seven Mountains were put under preservation order, and in 1931 the quarry at the Stenzelberg was finally closed. |
